Our students have continued to shine  as demonstrated by the wonderful, deep and engaging exhibitions,  a deep commitment to learning and a thirst for understanding their Personal Interest Projects in deep and meaningful ways. From our curious and enthusiastic early learners in the Primary School, to the resilient and determined senior students in the Secondary School, your achievements in the classroom and beyond have been truly remarkable. We commend your dedication, hard work, and the exceptional support of our advisors and staff.

At Silkwood, we believe in celebrating the rich tapestry of diversity that exists within our school community. Throughout the semester, we have embraced cultural exchanges, engaged in meaningful discussions, and fostered an inclusive environment that values and respects the unique perspectives and experiences of every individual. It is this diversity that strengthens our community and prepares our students for a globalised world. 

Enriching Experiences: 

Beyond the classroom, Silkwood students have ventured into a world of enriching experiences, both within and outside our school gates. From engaging in outdoor education and sports activities to participating in artistic endeavours and community service projects, our students have grown holistically, nurturing their physical, emotional, and social well-being. These experiences have fostered resilience, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility that will serve them well in their future endeavours. Our Festival of Light demonstrated the passion and diversity in our community and I congratulate everyone in our community for their input, support and commitment.  Our Camping program built on the premise of building resilience and engaging in new and varied experiences has been something that all who participated will remember.

Throughout the semester we have actively engaged in collaborative projects, fundraisers, and initiatives that make a positive impact on the lives of others. Your generosity, compassion, and willingness to extend a helping hand have exemplified the spirit of service that lies at the core of Silkwood. 

The Silkwood Festival of Light to end Term 2 was truly magical and enchanting. It's wonderful to see the sense of community and joy that permeated this event. The combination of music, fire, and the mesmerising glow of the lanterns, created a truly unique and captivating atmosphere.

The Festival of Light showcased the diverse talents of the students with talented drumming, fire twirling, singing, and other performances. It was heartwarming to see them igniting their light with pride, casting a soft, alluring glow that brought everyone together. Such moments of shared accomplishment and creativity are what strengthen the bonds within the Silkwood community.

Our Year 9 students ran successful stalls for their small business projects, offering a variety of treats, using the hospitality and entrepreneurship skills they've learned. Year 10 and 12 students also set up stalls to fundraise for their graduation, serving delicious food. It was a wonderful opportunity to support and appreciate their hard work.

The music and fire performances that showcased the power of winter were a highlight of the festival. Enchanting songs have a way of captivating an audience and creating a sense of wonder and awe. The beautiful melodies filling the air and the fire dance further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
 
As the night came to a close, it's no surprise that the attendees left with hearts filled with gratitude and joy. The Festival of Light served as a reminder of the precious gifts that light and fire bring to our lives. It's moments like these that can inspire a renewed appreciation for the beauty, warmth, and sense of togetherness that they represent.
 
The Festival of Light, as part of The Silkwood Way's tradition, have successfully celebrated the end of the term, leaving a lasting impact on everyone involved. These 'Moments That Matter' help create a sense of belonging, unity, and happiness within the school community, and they are undoubtedly cherished by all who attend.

We are thrilled to announce that our Winter Clothes Donations Drive was a tremendous success! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the generous community members who contributed to this wonderful cause. Together, we made a significant impact!

We would like to express our appreciation to The Kalwun Development Corporation for accepting the donations on behalf of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. Your support will go a long way in providing warmth and comfort to those in need during the winter season.

As we embark on this meaningful initiative, we would also like to acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the Lands upon which we work. We pay our deepest respects to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, both past and present, for their wisdom, guidance, and enduring connection to the land.

The success of this donations drive highlights the power of a united community coming together to make a positive difference. Your contributions have not only provided essential winter clothing but have also shown compassion and solidarity.

Our Mother's Day celebration was a resounding success, as love and a strong sense of community permeated the atmosphere. It was a day dedicated to honouring the remarkable motherly figures in our lives and cherishing the bonds that bring us together. With an amazing turnout of over 200 people, our Mother's Day breakfast became a testament to our community's love, appreciation, and gratitude. The event served as a beautiful reminder of the impact mothers and mother figures have on our lives, and it created an environment filled with warmth, joy, and a deep sense of togetherness.

Thank you to the SCCA Team (P&F) for organising our wonderful Mother's Day breakfast, enjoyed by so many last week. A special thanks to all the volunteers for making our celebration so special.

Our school emphasises the significance of mental health on par with the importance of physical health. In line with this philosophy, Hunter N, one of our Year 11 students, embarked on a philanthropy-based personal project this term. Hunter has taken the initiative to organise an educational fundraising walk-a-thon, aimed at raising awareness and support for mental health. During the event, students had the opportunity to listen to guest speakers who passionately advocated for mental health awareness. Additionally, they actively participated in a walk-a-thon, completing laps of a 1km circuit, all with the goal of raising funds for a charitable cause. We applaud Hunter for their exceptional efforts in organizing this event. The proceeds generated from the walk-a-thon were directed towards Healed Tribe, a charity that focuses on supporting the mental health and well-being of young individuals.

We are overjoyed to share with you the brand new music room at Robina Campus! Special thanks go out to Greg and the site crew, as well as Dan, Steff, Fiona, Mel, and PJ for all their hard work and dedication to making this recording studio a reality. It is remarkable to be able to offer students a place to practice and hone their skills.

We had an unforgettable time at yesterday's School Mini Music Concert! Our hearts were filled with joy as the talented music groups at Silkwood showcased their incredible skills. The afternoon was filled with a delightful mix of choral performances and mesmerising melodies. The repertoire was nothing short of exciting, with some of our groups preparing for the upcoming Eisteddfod. The concert concluded on a high note, with all the music students joining together to sing the enchanting winter song. It was a truly beautiful experience that left us in awe.

This term, as part of the Discovery Program, GeckoSports Gold Coast QLD team brought an incredible day of joy and excitement at our Prep and Year 1 Sports Day: Mini Olympics! 🥇🏃‍♀️🏅

Our young athletes showcased their skills and teamwork in a variety of sports activities. The Sports Day event was designed to give children a thrilling experience, featuring seriously fun games inspired by popular Olympic sports.

Our Year 3 Teaching Team took their creativity to the next level this morning.  As part of Silkwood's Essential Program (English and Maths), the Year 3 Team, with the help of the site crew, set up a mock meteor landing as a writing stimulus for Year 3 students.

With the assistance of the site crew, police and a fireperson, they put together an authentic meteor landing scenario. Once everyone was briefed on their roles and they'd practised their lines, the Director yelled, "Action!" 

Our unsuspecting Year 3 students were quietly going about their morning when the Site Crew burst into the classroom announcing that a space object had crash-landed overnight at Silkwood! They all rushed outside to investigate.

With caution tape in place, the students cast their amazed eyes on the smoking meteor in front of them! Media journalists were recording, scientists were investigating, a policeperson was taking notes, and a fireperson was ensuring safety on the scene. 

Middle School students attended to assist with cordoning off the area to keep everyone at a safe distance. The students were in absolute awe of what lay before them. Frantically discussing the damage to the area, the billowing smoke, and the giant meteor. A few students said they witnessed green sparks or heard a loud noise last night.

It was a super exciting start of a Friday morning to launch our Year 3 students into their Essential Learning creative writing task.

This Term, as part of the Exploring Program, Year 6 have continued their journey into the world of gardening. They have planted vegetables and spices such as tomatoes, lettuce, spring onions, parsley, and chives. Each week, they spend some time working on their projects and eagerly await the day they can harvest their produce. They'll also be attending cooking and nutrition classes as a part of the learning process.

As part of the Silkwood Exploring program, Year 7 students attended the planetarium, captivated by all the remarkable cosmic curiosities. What an excellent way to gain knowledge of our universe!

Before reaching the show, the students first visited the Planetarium museum, catching a glimpse of what they were about to discover. After that, they couldn't stop talking about all the space curiosities they had witnessed and were eager to learn more.

As the students filed into the darkened room, whispers of anticipation rippled through the group. They had heard about the wonders of the planetarium, but none had ever experienced it.

As the lights dimmed further and the dome-shaped screen lit up, a hush fell over the crowd. The students were spellbound as they were whisked away on a journey through space and time. They watched in awe as planets and stars zoomed past them, and galaxies swirled in an endless dance.

The show's peak was grasping the secret of black holes and their complexities when they watched a detailed image of the moon's face. The students viewed the tremendous power and elegance of such a magnificent astronomical body and its sway over the tides.

As they walked back to school, the students couldn't help but feel grateful for this incredible opportunity to explore the wonders of the universe. They had been inspired by what they had seen and couldn't wait to see what other marvels their advisors had next for them.

As part of our exploration program, our year 8 students had a blast learning skateboarding skills with a top-level coach. They also customised their own skateboard decks, promoting creativity. Skateboarding helps develop balance, coordination, motor skills, and teamwork. It enhances problem-solving skills and boosts confidence, both physically and mentally.

Year 3 had an exciting kickstart to Term 2 with a two day camp to Tyalgum Ridge Retreat. Students had some thrilling team building activities, including archery and low ropes. They also built fires, cooked damper, zoomed down the flying fox and got close to some fascinating animals, both farm animals and some reptiles.

Our group of Year 4 adventurers set foot on Moreton Island, the third-largest sand island on the planet, and embarked on an extraordinary two-day wilderness camping escapade. After landing on the sandy shores, the campers walked a 1-kilometre trek to their designated campsite. During their stay, they immersed themselves in the exploration of diverse beach habitats, tidal flats, and serene freshwater lakes. They indulged in invigorating beach hikes, while unleashing their creativity through the creation of mesmerising sand art. All the while, they absorb the captivating history that this remarkable place holds. As the sun set, the evenings came alive around the comforting glow of the campfire, where they partook in night walks, team building activities, and shared memorable experiences.

Year 5 spent three amazing adventure days at Numinbah Valley Environmental Education Centre.

Located just 20 minutes away from Silkwood Mt Nathan Campus, in the beautiful Numinbah Valley. Students spent their time immersed in various activities to develop their appreciation of Indigenous culture and expand their understanding of local Indigenous history, habits, plants and how they can be used.

They also learnt how to paddle a canoe and saw some fantastic reptiles. At night, they enjoyed a guided walk through the Gondwana Rainforest, visiting the renowned glow worm cave along the way, relaxing by the campfire & sharing a story or creating some indigenous-inspired artworks.

Our Year 7 and 8 students had the wonderful opportunity to attend Cambroon in sunny QLD, where they embarked on a program organised by Adventure Alternatives. The program took place at a purpose-built Outdoor Education Centre that was specifically designed to provide an exceptional outdoor learning experience.

The activities were designed not only to foster personal growth and development but also to cultivate a sense of community and camaraderie within each cohort. Students had the opportunity to challenge themselves, expand their thinking skills, and strengthen their bonds with their peers.

It was an incredible and enriching adventure for our Year 8 students. They explored the wonders of nature, developed essential life skills, and formed lasting memories. The experience allowed them to grow personally and build a stronger sense of community within their cohort.

Our Year 10 students enjoyed a fantastic urban exploration journey, where they conquered boundaries while immersing themselves in all Brisbane city has to offer! This experience is an integral part of The Silkwood Way - Discovery Learning Program, and is aimed to develop skills, explore possibilities, and enhance self-awareness through real-world education and adventure.

Students were split into four groups depending on their interests, which were: creative arts, business and law, technology and engineering, and sports and medicine. The Advisors carefully organised the planned activities to match the interest areas of each group.

The adventure commenced from Robina Train Station where students began their journey to Roma Street, Brisbane. For three days, they took in the charm of Queensland's sunny capital, experiencing all it had to offer - including historical sites, The Institute of Modern Art, Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane bridge climb, indoor skydiving, and to top it off, the students also enjoyed some social interaction by the pool.

They also had the opportunity to explore the campuses of both the University of Queensland and Griffith University, enabling them to see the many possibilities available to them and open up their horizons. These campus tours broadened their knowledge and piquedtheir curiosity exploring post-school pathways. It was truly remarkable to witness these students' enthusiasm and excitement as they explored their interests.

The South Passage Sailing Adventure is an optional camp for up to 22 Year 10 students who wish to experience this fantastic adventure.

For an exciting start to their Senior School journey, students step aboard 'The South Passage' 100ft gaff-rigged schooner for a six-day adventurous sea voyage where they are authentically immersed in being a working crew member on a tall ship designed for school voyages. Sailing daily to various locations in the Moreton Islands group (Quandamooka Country), this camp provides safe and challenging experiences for students to develop leadership, initiative, confidence, independence and teamwork, all whilst learning about sailing and managing a ship. Students are grouped on watch duties but often work 'all hands on deck'. They rotate deck duties such as helming, navigating lookout, recording entries in the ship log, setting sails, knot tying, tacking, and gybing. When not running the ship, they explore islands, protect marine ecosystems, snorkel, swim, have fun in the dunes, and enjoy downtime on deck. As an optional challenge, students can sign up for the duke of Edinburgh Bronze award and use this sailing expedition for the practising and qualifying adventurous journey component.

Throughout this semester, Abigail has embarked on another fulfilling learning journey, building upon her educational experiences and exploring new possibilities. Her dedication to education was evident through her teacher aide internship, where she gained valuable insights and practical skills. Going beyond, she delved into the world of occupational therapy, broadening her horizons even further.

Abigail's proactive approach led her to reach out to several pediatric specialists, eventually securing an internship with Billylids Therapy, a small, family-owned business. Demonstrating her gratitude and eagerness to contribute, she plans to create promotional videos for the Billylids business, giving back to her mentor and supporting the growth of the organisation.

Furthermore, Abigail has been actively pursuing a Cert II in community services, driven by her passion for disability support and pediatric occupational therapy. Her thirst for knowledge and commitment to making a difference in these areas are truly commendable.

Alex's journey into the world of engineering has been nothing short of remarkable since joining our institution. Their passion and dedication have shone through in various projects and initiatives throughout the year.

In the STEM bridge project, Alex and their group embarked on a comprehensive survey of the local area, seeking to understand the existing traffic problems. Drawing on their creativity and engineering skills, they devised an innovative solution: a bridge across the river to redirect traffic flow. This demonstrated their ability to think critically and propose practical solutions to real-world challenges.

Their interest in engineering further flourished in PILT (Practical and Interactive Learning Techniques), where they delved into the realm of prosthetics. Inspired by their personal connection to the cause—creating a prosthetic finger for their mountaineer grandfather who lost fingers in extreme conditions in Alaska—Alex explored the use of Blendr, Inventor, Rhino, and our school's 3D printer to design and prototype prosthetics. Their creativity extended to film production, where they crafted an exoskeleton for heavy object manipulation and a unique costume for a "monster-like" creature.

Alex's passion for learning extends beyond the classroom, as evidenced by their completion of online courses in IT and Electrical Engineering. Their thirst for knowledge and eagerness to explore different facets of engineering are truly commendable.

Additionally, Alex's dedication to social action is admirable. They have taken on the responsibility of planning a performance at HOTA (Home of the Arts), with the aim of raising funds for the mental health charity Livin. Their initiative showcases their empathy, awareness of social issues, and desire to make a positive impact on the community.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Alex for their accomplishments and express our gratitude to Reyna for their guidance and support. Alex's commitment to engineering, creativity, and social action is truly inspiring. Well done, Alex!

Amalia's accomplishments and growth throughout the semester have been truly exceptional, and we couldn't be prouder of her achievements. Her commitment to her studies and the development of effective study skills have allowed her to excel in all her projects, completing them to a high standard.

Amalia's pursuit of a Certificate in Conservation and Ecosystem Management demonstrates her passion for environmental preservation. Leading a social action project to clean up the local waterways in Robina showcases her dedication to making a positive impact on the community and protecting the environment.

Beyond her environmental endeavours, Amalia's true passion has blossomed in the world of fashion design and dressmaking. Working closely with a mentor, she has embarked on an exciting journey to design and create a ballet costume inspired by the ocean. The completion of the corset this term is a testament to her creativity, craftsmanship, and attention to detail. We eagerly anticipate the finalisation of the skirt next term. Building her fashion portfolio, attending a fashion show in Brisbane, and acquiring skills in creating fashion flat lays further underscore Amalia's commitment to pursuing her passion.

The joy and enthusiasm she has expressed throughout this project are heartwarming. Hearing her say, "I loved every moment of this project" is a testament to her genuine love for fashion design and dressmaking. We have no doubt that Amalia's talent and dedication will take her far in this field.

In addition to her academic pursuits and fashion endeavours, Amalia's involvement in formal committee meetings and Year 12 fundraising reflects her proactive nature and willingness to contribute to the school community.

Ash's dedication to inspiring the imagination of the next generation is truly commendable. Throughout the semester, he embarked on extensive research to understand his target audience, engaging in an internship with Year 1 students at Silkwood Primary. This firsthand experience provided valuable insights into the minds of young children.

Ash also delved into the world of children's literature and film, analysing various examples to enhance his understanding of storytelling techniques. Drawing from his research, he meticulously planned the story arc and plot outline of his children's play, exploring the Hero's journey as a literary structure.

In addition to the narrative, Ash poured his creativity into designing captivating characters and costumes. With a determination to bring his vision to life, he intends to make the costumes himself, with the guidance and mentorship of a fellow classmate who studied fashion design.

Now, Ash's focus shifts to writing the play and conducting a casting call to assemble the perfect team for the production. The traineeship he commenced at Chempro Robina will provide the necessary funding for this exciting endeavour.

Remarkably, amidst his creative pursuits, Ash achieved exceptional grades in his QCE classes, showcasing his commitment and academic excellence. He also actively participated in drama classes, further honing his skills and passion for the performing arts.

Ash, we are incredibly proud of your accomplishments and your dedication to making a positive impact on young minds. A heartfelt thank you goes to Rachel, Steff, and Tai for their support and guidance along the way.

Congratulations, Ashton, on your achievements, we eagerly anticipate the success of your children's play. Well done!

This semester, Blake has wholeheartedly pursued his passion for Motocross, seeking mentors to guide and coach him. Throughout this journey, he has acquired invaluable knowledge about safe and effective riding techniques, whilst also building his confidence on the track. As with most sports, this newfound experience and confidence have positively influenced other areas of his life, enabling him to tackle challenges he may have otherwise shied away from.

In a showcase of his growth and talent, Blake presented his best exhibition yet, speaking fluently and passionately about his work. This demonstration of his skills and dedication left a lasting impression on all who witnessed it.

Moreover, Blake has been actively involved with Energex, where he has consistently received positive feedback. His strong communication skills have shone through during interactions with his employer, showcasing his ability to effectively engage and connect with others. Looking ahead, he plans to apply for apprenticeships during the July intake, fueled by his determination to further develop his skills and pursue his career aspirations.

Blake's commitment to making a difference is evident through his involvement in men's mental health awareness. He actively participated in the push-up challenge, raising funds for this important cause. Additionally, he volunteered his time to support the Autumn Festival fundraising event for the Year 12 formal, exemplifying his selflessness and community spirit.

Congratulations, Blake, on your outstanding achievements! Your passion, dedication, and growth are truly inspiring. And let's not forget to celebrate your triumph in winning the Kahoot quiz about dirt bikes—well done! 🏍️😀👏 A heartfelt thank you to Jordan and Tai for their support and guidance along this incredible journey.

This semester, Brandon has truly showcased his incredible talents through a captivating project that celebrates his Japanese cultural heritage. He embarked on a comprehensive journey of research, planning, and creativity, culminating in the creation of an enchanting itinerary for a trip to Japan. His dedication paid off when he secured the ultimate internship, granting him the opportunity to visit the country in April. During his visit, Brandon captured breathtaking photographs, explored the places he had meticulously researched, and cherished precious moments with his family. He found inspiration in his great grandmother's traditional Japanese paintings, fueling his own artistic aspirations.

Beyond immersing himself in Japanese culture, Brandon has also ventured into the culinary world. With a passion for traditional Japanese cuisine, he has been busy in the kitchen, cooking and experimenting with authentic dishes. His traineeship at a local Sushi restaurant provided him with valuable hands-on experience, particularly in the art of crafting sushi. In a delightful gesture, Brandon even shared his culinary creations with senior staff during one of our shared lunches—a true testament to his culinary prowess.

Expanding his interests, Brandon has also embarked on the art of Bonsai tree care, cultivating his skills in gardening. In the upcoming term, he plans to further develop his artistic abilities while also exploring ways to promote a greater appreciation for cultural diversity within the community.

Daizy's remarkable qualities of integrity, compassion, and drive continue to leave us in awe, and we are thrilled to celebrate the launch of Bumblepup, their very own pet accessory business. With several years of experience in fashion design and sewing, Daizy has honed their skills to perfection and even mentored fellow students in their sewing endeavors.

Throughout the journey of creating Bumblepup, Daizy's deep passion for animal care and their understanding of the profound impact pets have on people's lives have been evident. Their diligent research work in this field has helped shape the business, ensuring that it aligns with their values and meets the needs of pet owners.

In addition to their entrepreneurial endeavours, Daizy is also taking the lead in coordinating our first-ever Robina campus market stall event, scheduled for August. This event will provide a platform for young entrepreneurs from Year 10, 11, and 12 to showcase their unique creations and talents.

Daizy, your unwavering dedication to making a difference in our community is truly commendable. The launch of Bumblepup not only reflects your passion and creativity but also showcases your commitment to serving pet owners and their beloved companions. We are inspired by your drive and can't wait to witness the positive impact you will undoubtedly make. Thank you Rachel, for your support and guidance in nurturing Daizy's entrepreneurial spirit.

Eden's exhibition was absolutely outstanding. Throughout the semester, he has wholeheartedly pursued his passion for outdoor recreation and leadership, and it is clear that his efforts have paid off. We are thrilled to announce that Eden has secured a traineeship at Bornhoffen PCYC in Springbrook, a role specially designed for him.

During his project, Eden recognised and emphasised four crucial elements for leading a remarkable outdoor recreation experience, with knowledge being one of them. He fearlessly embraced this challenge by immersing himself in improving his rock climbing knowledge and skills at Alpine Climb in Robina. Eden's dedication and determination were evident as he tracked his progress and showcased his remarkable talent during the exhibition.

Eden, your commitment and enthusiasm for outdoor recreation and leadership are truly inspiring. We commend you on your exceptional achievements and are excited to see where your journey takes you. Congratulations on a job well done, Eden!

This semester, Ella has joyfully returned to her art, which has always been her sanctuary and source of happiness.  Her exploration of education and teacher aide roles led her to shadow Year 4 advisors. Drawing from her passion and understanding of learning difficulties, Ella embarked on a fascinating journey to understand how artistic individuals think and learn differently, delving into the realm of art therapy.

In addition to her artistic pursuits, Ella has been diligently working towards her goals. She is currently completing a Certificate III in hospitality and a barista course, as she plans to fund a transformative gap year travelling overseas. Recognising her passion for art and design, Ella has applied for courses at SCU and understands that she can adapt her degree if her aspirations evolve.

Ella's dedication to giving back is evident through her volunteer work with the Numinbah tree planting project and her involvement in the Formal committee. Her deep introspection and self-awareness enable her to effectively navigate her learning journey, utilising study tools that suit her best.

By collaborating with Healed Tribe and securing guest speakers, she not only raised an impressive $2800 for mental health awareness but also facilitated important conversations and increased awareness within the school community.

The impact of Hunter's efforts was so profound that Healed Tribe recognised her and our school, offering free mental health first aid courses to staff and creating an internship opportunity for another student. Mars has nailed it this semester! Having decided on a future career as a game artist/developer in Yr 7, Mars has steadily built a strong portfolio of work that will catapult them into the creative industries.

-animations created with knowledge and skills gained from mentor Jaymee-Lee Keable and the Bond University Animation and Prototyping course with Professor James Burt.

For their senior project, Mars is exploring the impact of AI on artists as well as ways to promote inclusion and education through art.

Having completed their Certificate IV in Educational Support, Mars is well placed for career options and showcased their skills during a social action project running 'reduce, reuse, recycle' workshops for Silkwood students in Year 4.

Always looking for ways to contribute to the community and support diversity, Mars also raised money for The Trevor Project via a charity gaming tournament.

And to expand their horizons within creative industries, Mars also had two shadow days in tattoo businesses; Hailey Blossom and Squires Ink, learning about hand stencilling and thermal stencilling as well as safety, working with needles, and working with inks.

This semester, Max's pursuit of rock stardom has reached new heights as he penned six original songs and sought support from SAE to record a demo. Inspired by legendary bands like The Beatles, The Who, and Oasis, Max is dedicated to honing his unique style while embracing the influence of his musical idols.

To elevate his musical prowess, Max delved deep into music theory, immersing himself in books and YouTube videos. He eagerly absorbed knowledge about chord progressions, the circle of fifths, resolving chords, tension and release, the pentatonic scale, and the art of harmonising chords. This newfound understanding has transformed his confidence, erasing doubts about his ability to be a lead guitarist and paving the way for him to plan epic solos.

If you were fortunate enough to catch Max serenading us at Tuesday's Festival of Light, you witnessed his talent firsthand. And if you missed it, don't worry! There may be another opportunity to witness Max's electrifying performance before he becomes a household name. He is currently applying for a slot in school performances at HOTA in August, ensuring that his journey to stardom continues to captivate audiences.

Oliver's journey in film production has truly ignited his spirit this term. It all started with his enrolment in a TAFE course, where he dedicated himself to mastering Adobe Photoshop and Premier Pro. Through this training, Oliver showcased his creative prowess by designing a captivating magazine cover and revamping a local business logo.

Eager to explore the realm of filmmaking, Oliver delved into a couple of short film projects, showcasing his evolving skills and talent. The positive feedback he received from his instructor regarding his voice-over work served as a catalyst, further fueling his passion for the craft. With Semester 2 on the horizon, Oliver has already laid out a roadmap for his next endeavour; an original short film of his own creation.

To bring his vision to life, Oliver is actively seeking volunteers to take on various roles, including acting, sound, film, and editing. This collaborative approach not only demonstrates his commitment to teamwork but also offers others a chance to be a part of his creative journey.
