Real-World Learning in Action
Please note: The $20 Boss Market is a student-focused event. We’ll be sure to share plenty of photos from the day so you can see all the excitement!
Dear Silkwood Primary and Middle School Parents,
This term, Year 6 and Year 7 students have been exploring the $20 Boss Program—an incredible opportunity for them to develop entrepreneurial and business skills in line with The Silkwood Way. We recognise that fostering enterprise skills is essential in preparing our students for the real world and the challenges of the 21st century.
On Friday, 6th September, these young entrepreneurs will bring their creative ideas to life at our school-based $20 Boss Market, held on the Middle School campus.
The market will open for our Year 8 and 9 students at 11:00am, followed by Primary Years 1 to 5 from 11:45am.
This will provide all students with the opportunity to support their peers by purchasing handmade goods, delicious food items, and unique creations ranging from necklaces to plant holders.
This event is a valuable real-world learning experience, offering students the chance to manage their spending, make informed choices, and engage in meaningful self-management. Let’s work together to ensure a safe and enjoyable market day for everyone.
If your child wishes to buy something, please ensure they bring a small amount of cash. Prices will range from $0.50 to $20.00. Any food or drinks purchased, such as baked goods and juice-based snow cones, should be consumed at school. We encourage you to discuss any dietary preferences or restrictions with your child in advance. Additionally, some items may fall outside of our preferred nutrition guidelines, so if you prefer that your child does not purchase or consume any food or drink, please notify your child’s Advisor via email.
Kind regards,
The Year 6 and 7 Team
